Basic Allowance For Housing (BAH)
Your BAH will be used in one of two ways. You can either rent on base or you can live off base. If you live off base, you can either rent or buy. Click Here for current BAH rates.

Arnold Air Force Base is one of the largest training bases in the Air Force and is located near Tullahoma, Tennessee. When the base was first established, it was used to test jet engines and NASA spacecraft. The base had a propulsion wind tunnel test facility built to accommodate more extreme testing. There are over thirty housing units on base for military personnel which include washer/dryer hook ups. New arrivals can find out more information for the housing office up on check in. Call #931-454-7687 for information on specific family dwellings, apartments and any waiting lists that may be in effect. The office can also familiarize personnel with the current BAH rates for renting or purchasing a home. Arnold Air Force Base offers a commissary, a small BX and a post office. Services are available for all active duty members, reserve, National Guard and retired members of the Armed Forces. Temporary lodging is provided by the Wingo Inn. When arriving on base, the visitor center will provide new residents with the necessary identification cards. The center is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. All firearms must be registered with the Security Forces Headquarters upon arrival. The headquarters is located in Building 251. The Tennessee school district handles all educational institutions for those students in K-12. Nearby cities that offer housing include Manchester, Tullahoma, and Winchester as well as Chattanooga and Nashville. The temperature tends to be warm in the summer and colder in the winter with temperatures in the 30s. Arnold Air Force Base has become the largest test facility for aerodynamic and propulsion engines since 2002. The base currently has over 58 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels and ballistic ranges. Arnold Air Force Base was established in 1946 and continues to be one of the largest facilities in the United States Air Force.
